Track 3: Poverty For All

Ignite

Lyrics:
Sold by your own
October revolution
Out to the streets
To fight against the tyranny
In 56' we fought the occupation
The young and old
Against the Communist regime

The sorrow, a so-called liberation
The sorrow, a violent domination
Sorrow, the humiliation
Fifty years, the death of a nation

Poverty for all
But freedom's the exception
The Proletariat, now the
Red Bourgeoisie
The murder, the torture
The terror, the famine
Fifty years under the
Communist regimes

The sorrow, a so-called liberation
The sorrow, a violent domination
Sorrow, the humiliation
Fifty years, the death of a nation

The price of freedom,
is worth it to me
Fighting
A revolution
Fighting
For human rights
The Cheka, the Stazi
The human tragedies
The casualties of the state
Fifty years,
a tragic philosophy
Fifty years,
collective suffering
Fifty years,
we're the casualties
of the state

The sorrow, a so-called liberation
The sorrow, a violent domination
Sorrow, the humiliation
Fifty years, the death of a nation

I chose this song for my Animal Farm soundtrack because it is a picture of what Communism has done to the people.  "Sold by your own October revolution" fits well with Animal Farm because their revolution put them into a worse place than before when Mr. Jones ran the farm.  "Poverty for all/But freedom's the exception" paints an interesting picture.  The animals are poorer than before the revolution; they must work longer hours for less food.  However, they are enjoying 'freedom', or are they?  Again, "The murder, the torture/The terror, the famine" fit well with Animal Farm.  The animals do undergo all of these things (except perhaps torture, which did happen in Communist Russia).  You also see "sorrow" and "death of a nation" repeated in this song.  The devastation brought to Animal Farm and Russia are evident.  Finally, "we're casualties of the state" really drives the point home.  The animals as well as the people were just used by the tyrants.
